This section defines the Grade Setup in SmartHCM.

Introduction
Grades play a vital role in SmartHCM, to define company policies associated to levels and groups for example leave policy, time office (Check-in & Check-out), funds, allowances and deductions etc... is defined on "Grades".
Multiple Grades for Contractual, Permanent or Trainee employees can be created and polices with respect to the concerning group may be implemented.
Organizations may have different nomenclature according to their norms. (A company may segregate employees naming contractual group 1, contractual group 2, contractual group 3.... so on & so forth, numeric digit might be representing the seniority level. Another firm have their proprietize style by declaring Level 1, Level 2..... so on & so forth)
Grades
In SmartHCM grades are specified against Employee Type and Employment Type. Grades may also determine the rate of basic pay associated with a specific level or position or range of responsibilities and qualification.
Grade
- Employee Type: Select Employee Type on which you want to create grade (Mandatory).
- Employment Type: Employment Type is also a mandatory field.
Defining Grade
To define a new 'Grade' follow procedure below;
Step 1:
Select Employee type, you are looking define Grade.
Contractual, Permanent, Trainee etc...
Step 2:
Press 'Add' on tool bar and input the required fields.
A User defined Grade ID. Give Grade Name (E.g. Grade #, Level #, BPS # Etc...)
Provide Description of this grade (define seniority level or description of grade, Grade 1 is lower staff, Grade 2 officers etc...
Define Level i.e. what is the level in organizational hierarchy.
Define a Salary slab for this grade.
Step 3:
Press 'Save' and click on 'Save' button on tool bar to save changes.
Note
Grades is a common parameter on all Reports and hence is an important tool to filter reports.
